My favorite location for wildflower photos is at Robinson Canyon.

One of the many nice things about Robinson Canyon is how close it is to Ellensburg, WA. It is located on the west side of Ellensburg and is about a 20 minutes drive from the center of Ellensburg. I do want to note one of the not so nice things is the road to get there is a bit bumpy for about a 1/2 mile or so. I was able to get there in my minivan, but it made my husband wish we were driving a vehicle with a bit more clearance. Overall, I would say this is a very easy place to get to.

Also, if you choose to book a session here, I have a whole set of directions with pictures on how to get to my favorite spot.

The wildflowers are best in May.

If you want to plan a session for when the wildflowers are going to be blossoming, May is your best option. Depending on the year they might be around earlier or later, but there is no guarantee. I say plan for a May session and you should be set. However, anytime May through September is a beautiful time to get photos done in Robinson Canyon. It is a gorgeous mountain scene and really makes amazing photos during the warmer months. Also, I think it is important to note that because of weather and animals, they only keep this land open from April-October. Every year is a little different when they open and close the land.

When we take your photos there, we will book a session for 1 - 1 1/2 hours before sunset.

Also, can I just say this again...this location is only open April-October. Most years I believe it opens later in April and closes early in October. So the best timing to do photos here is really going to be May-September. If you have it set in your mind that you need to get photos done in the Fall, I want you to change your mindset. Spring and summer are actually very beautiful times of year to have photos done, especially if you want mountain photos like these ones. You don't need to wait until fall to get your photos done for your Christmas cards, you just don't. :)

What kind of wildflowers do you see there?

Last year there were some beautiful yellow and purple wildflowers. I think the yellow flowers were Mountain Arnica and the purple flowers I think were Lupine. They were everywhere! They were the cherry on top when it came to this amazing mountainous area. Even without the wildflowers there are stunning mountain views and beautiful trees. If you are looking for a session in the mountains, this is the spot!

There is also great hiking in Robinson Canyon.

Incase you are looking for a nice place to take your family this summer, check out Robinson Canyon. There are a couple trails to go hiking or horseback riding. The beauty will not disappoint. I know I have said that multiple times in multiple ways, but I really want you to understand how much I love this place and can't wait to share it with you!
