Keeping it Simple
I'm all about doing and having fun things, but I also want to keep things simple. Every year for Halloween, my kids get dressed in their Halloween costumes, then we go out in front of the garage door and snap fun photos of them. I love this tradition! It's quick and easy and all I'm really trying to get is one photos of each of them and then a group shot...done.
It happens to be that my garage door is in good lighting in the afternoon, so that's when it is done every year. I've made a plan and now I just have to make it happen. Sometimes just making the plan can be the stumbling block that prevents us from doing any thing. That and sometimes we make things too complicated. This year for Halloween, I challenge you to find that spot that has good lighting at the time a quick photo shoot will work for you, every October. Then take your children's costume photos there. I think you will find how rewarding and simple this is. Remember to have low expectations. Let your kids have a say in their pose. You are capturing who they are then, not who you think they should be.
