Being a Senior is Like Being in The Foothills of Your Life.
What an accomplishment to be approaching this point of your life. You have learned so much and it is the closing of an amazing foundation forming time of life. Think of this as the foothills of your journey. It is the close of one chapter, but the beginning of another. Very exciting!
Now that your are planning your senior year, I am sure senior phots are on your mind. Probably in the top three on your list. Scroll down to read about preparing for your senior photos.
Planning for Your Senior Session Can Be Simple.
Really, this can be as simple or complex as you want to make it. Here at Brindy Ruby Photography, I try to make this experience simple, but the outcome outstanding. I ask you to help prepare a few things, like outfits, decide on a location and if you want any props. Having said that, I am still here to help give suggestions with outfits, location and props. Other than that, all you need to do is show up and I will guide you through your session.
Plan on 2-3 Outfits for Your Senior Photography Session.
Outfits changes...this is one difference you get with senior photos than other photo sessions. You probably knew this already, but you should be prepared to have 2-3 outfits for your senior portraits. I also like to recommend having an undershirt, so changing can be done quickly, keeping the same pair of jeans. Dresses can sometimes act like a changing cover too. I have a great information page that can help you know what to wear. Click here to get some guidance: WHAT TO WEAR
My Senior Sessions Last 45-60 Minutes.
Senior photos take about 45-60 minutes long. I feel like a session going much longer than an hour can exhaust everyone involved. If there is a little extra traveling between locations, then the session might go a little longer.
I Use a Lifestyle Approach to My Flow of Session Poses.
You probably noticed my style from scrolling around on my website. I am a lifestyle photographer and create photos that mean something and hopefully make you feel something. That being said, I still include your traditional senior portrait that most yearbooks request and mothers love to have.
You may also have some posing ideas you want to have included. I definitely have a plan and can run through what I like, but if you have any poses you want included in the session, please, let me know.
I Have Some Location Ideas if You Need Them.
The beauty of a senior session is you get to choose where we take these special photos. It you aren't sure or need some ideas, I am here with some ideas and suggestions for locations in and near Ellensburg, WA. Or if you would like me to take all the work out of it for you, I can choose for your Ellensburg location. I get it. Sometimes that is just what you need; someone to be decisive.
Another question you might have is if a senior session includes multiple locations. It definitely can. Also, you may ask if the session time includes the drive time to get to and from the two locations? In general, it is included in the session time. I usually can be flexible with time, but if you would like to visit multiple locations, I like to try and keep them within a reasonable distance.
You may also wonder if the session can last through a couple of days depending on what you would like to capture. In general, this would probably be considered two session. I am happy to work something out depending on your plan. Maybe you want senior photos, but you also want a photographer at your senior party. This would be considered two different sessions. If you wanted to book them both, you would get a discount. Anyway, I would love to hear your ideas and help you plan your session. Talk to you soon!
